Analogue Defaults
Inspired by Brad Dowdy's list, here are my default tools for writing. I don't use as many tools as Brad does, so I'm only listing the stuff I reach for regularly.
Pens
- Fountain Pen: TWSBI Swipe. This entry-level fountain pen offers so much. Two huge converters, an amazingly smooth nib, and a very comfortable grip. I reach for this over much more expensive pens all the time.
- Ballpoint Pen: Studio Neat Mark One. Specifically the Limited Edition 007. I love purple, and this pen does purple better than most. Also, one of the most satisfying clicks in the business.
Inks
- Fountain Pen Ink: Diamine Passion Flower Forever Ink. A very nice purple ink with strong shading. I really value water/light-fastness in journalling ink, and this ink excels on both counts.
- Ballpoint Refill: Schmidt EasyFlow 9000. I use this refill, rather than the included Schmidt P8126, in my Studio Neat. It works with a large variety of Parker-style pens, and it produces a consistent bold line.
Notebooks
- Journalling: Clairefontaine My.Essential notebook. I wrote many words about why this is my favourite. The short version? Excellent paper, a dot grid pattern, and all the right features.
